Le PIC REMONT (The Rémont peak)

This is the equivalent of the Montagne des Chasseurs (Hunters' Mountain). Even though it is slightly lower, it still has a very beautiful viewpoint. Legend says that it is here that Gargantua emptied the contents of his sack from which the Montagne des Chasseurs originated.

CYCLING TOURS ALONG THE 'GREEN ROUTE'

The so-called 'Green Route' between Belleville and Beaujeu follows the former railway tracks which once linked these two towns. Today they are disused and the route is currently being altered to become our Green Route. Cycling tours starting here will allow you to discover the beauty of the Beaujolais countryside. One such tour will pass through Chénas where there will be a rest area from which ramblers can attempt the crest path and then proceed to the Montagne des Chasseurs.

WALKING AND MOUNTAIN BIKE CIRCUITS

Two walking circuits, poetically named " Entre Vignes et Chênes " ('Between Vines and Oak trees'), start from the village centre. The 19 km " Gargantua " circuit wends its way through vines and woods, skirting the Moulin à Vent windmill (which is listed as an ancient monument) and then rises up towards the Pic Rémont before it ascends to the Cabane des Chasseurs. The 8 km " Montagne des Chasseurs " circuit follows the direction of Bief before running along the foot of the Pic Rémont, and then also climbs to the Cabane des Chasseurs. A mountain bike circuit which is part of the mountain bike circuits of the neighbouring villages of Fleurie, Emeringes, Jullié and Juliénas also winds through the village of Chénas.
